Signatory Vintage are an independent bottler founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington. The name ‘Signatory’ was derived from the initial intention to find a person of suitable standing to sign the labels for bottles drawn from a single cask. The first cask bottled was a 1968 Glenlivet which quickly sold through long before any suitable signee could be found. Signatory currently bottle at three strengths: 43%, 46% Unchillfiltered (UCF) and Cask Strength.To add proof of authenticity to their cask strength bottlings, Signatory always include the cask numbers, date of distillation, date of bottling and number of bottles produced.Signatory Vintage’s aim is to offer as wide a range of whiskies as possible, some of which are not even bottled by the proprietary distillery. This allows malt enthusiast to sample the huge variety of subtle differences which occur between casks.

The Glenlivet Distillery is the only Scottish distillery allowed to call itself THE Glenlivet and has done since 1880 due to other distilleries calling their whisky Glenlivet even though they were not situated in ‘the glen’. The water for this distillery is taken from Josies Well which is a local spring near the distillery. This distillery was founded in 1824 completed in 1858, it currently produces 10,200,000 litres of whisky every year and most of that goes into 6,000,000 bottles of The Glenlivet Single Malt which is Americas largest selling single malt. The rest of the whisky produced is used on owners Pernod Ricard’s blended whiskies. The name The Glenlivet is one of the most renowned whiskies in the world. There are a huge range of bottlings and the rarer ones end up in auction and are a big choice for collectors.

This cask strength single malt whisky was distilled at the Glenlivet distillery before being placed in a single 1st Fill ex Sherry Cask and left to mature for 13 years. It was bottled at 62.8% abv as part of an exclusive bottling for Le Comptoir Irlandais in France. Only 645 bottles were produced for worldwide distribution. Stock is very limited.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Fruit cake, Christmas spices, orchard fruits, dark fruits and toffee sweetness.

Palate: Malty and rich, toffee apples, dried dark fruits, orchard fruits and ginger snap biscuits.

Finish: Classic Glenlivet boosted by an active Sherry cask, orchard fruits, dried fruits and soft sweetness.
