You can almost hear the heartbeat of whisky as Macallan lies in the central district of whisky making territory. This distillery which was built in 1824 near the river Spey in a tranquil Speyside setting is owned by Edrington & William Grant & Sons. Now Macallan 50 Years Old is most famous for being James Bond’s favourite dram so something special is truly happening behind the closed doors of this distillery which is magical. Macallan is a name in whisky that is held at the highest regard and delivers time and time again.

A new annual release from The Macallan Distillery titled A Night on Earth in Scotland which is inspired by Hogmanay, the name of Scotland’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. This single malt whisky was created by Macallan lead whisky maker Sarah Burgess. The expression is influenced by combining the fond memories Sarah has had whilst celebrating Hogmanay. Using casks where the  Macallan spirit has been matured in American and European oak sherry seasoned casks, as well as ex-bourbon barrels.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Creamy rich buttery cake mix, vanilla scones and sweet pastry, dark fruit jam and crushed slithered almonds.

Taste: Shortbread biscuits, vanilla cream, rocky road and dried oranges. Cinnamon and all spice with toasted malt.

Finish: Medium to long with creamy buttery pastry, raisin biscuits.
